‘Biblical Gender Roles’ hits one out of the park!

Head is covered

Wow! I couldn’t have written a better article on the topic, of Christian head coverings, myself, and I consider this a very crucial topic of anti-God rebellion in our churches and amongst Christians who rebel in full view of the world. How can Christians be asking God for anything, and expecting to receive it, when our women’s prayers are, in form, a defiant affront to Him? Our collective prayers are surely hindered, because we do not live with our wives in an understanding way, allowing them to defy God and throw off the headship of their husbands(the image and glory of God) by refusing to even have a symbol of that divinely commanded headship over them in the presence of angels and God himself, who made men in His own image.

I have been planning to write a post about this topic myself and have in fact already made a graphic for it. To me, so many of the problems with today’s apostate church stem from satanic deceptions, lies, false doctrine, and disobedience related to Feminisms’ blasphemous effeminization of God, “even the Father”. While at the same time they denigrate men, being made in God’s image and glory. Yet some Christians will even advocate women wearing head coverings, while still refusing to acknowledge a man’s reason for not wearing one:

1 Corinthians 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

The difference in form makes no sense, if you view man and woman as equal creations. You have to see that the man was in fact made superior, and first, in the image and glory of God, to understand the Apostle Paul’s explanation. Otherwise Paul is just spouting off something that has no bearing on the matter, since both men and women share in the image of their hermaphrodite god/goddess alike. We have to get back to the early churches Biblical belief that only men were created in the image of God. That is foundational to understanding God’s model of patriarchy, and why holy Sarah called Abraham, “Lord”. Flattery is a sin, not something the Apostle Peter would commend Sarah for.(1 Peter 3:6) Sarah was acknowledging Abraham’s divine dominion over her.

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

If the husband images Christ, and the wife images the church, which one is an image of God?

  1. Unrelated to the post:
I am spending less days online now, but will be stopping through as often as possible to gather your insights and perhaps provide some of my own that build on yours.
You have been gifted with discernment, and it is good you are starting a blog to help other men in Christ in the lukewarm theology of today.

  2. Lori’s blog is excellent and great that she is unafraid to tackle the issues !

As a conservative traditionalist Catholic don’t agree with quite a bit on Biblical Gender Roles but this article on head coverings is spot on.

  3. Long hair is given to women for a covering. Why else does the Bible tell women to have long hair?
Scarves on heads were a cultural era thing, much like men wearing ties and hats.

  4. @Ace Long hair is not the head covering required when saved women prays or prophesies, as 1 Corinthians 11:5-6 contradict such a notion. The words translated as “uncovered” and “covered” in them in Greek refer to external head coverings like veils, hats, scarves etc., anything but a wig, and such is their only meaning in the Greek language. Verse 6 commands that if the saved woman be not covered as with an external head covering(like a veil), then she is also to be “shorn.” This word “shorn” in Greek literally means to be “sheered like a sheep,” it refers to cutting short the hair of the head, which is the commanded punishment for saved women not wearing an external head covering when praying or prophesying. Thus the long hair is not, and can not serve as the head covering required when a saved woman prays or prophesies as, if it could, verse 6 is senseless and need not be in the chapter. If the long hair could serve as the head covering required when a saved woman prays or prophesies, then what verse 6 says with regard to “not covered” would mean her hair is already not long, already short, which means it couldn’t be ALSO(the word also in verse 6 does appear in the Greek) be shorn(cut short) for reason of her head not being covered when she prays or prophesies as it already has been cut short. Paul’s mention of the woman’s long hair being her glory, given to her for a covering(this word in verse 15 translated as covering is neither of the words in verses 5-6, but a different word referring to garments, clothing period, able to refer to all sorts of garments such as skirts, veils, mantles etc.) is part of an illustration from nature that Paul gave in answer to a question he asked in verse 13. He asked “Judge in yourselves; Is it comely(proper, fitting, becoming in Greek) for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered(with an external head covering like a veil)?” The he gave an answer to the question by giving an illustration from nature; “Does not even nature itself teach you that, if a man has long hair it is a dishonor to him, but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, for her hair is given her for a covering(garment).” This illustration from nature is saying a woman’s long hair is her natural clothing, and in giving it in answer to his question in verse, Paul is saying under Divine Inspiration the answer to the question is “no.” Just as it would be a dishonor for a man to have long hair which, as a woman’s natural clothing, is her glory, it would not be comely(proper, fitting, becoming) for a saved woman to pray to God with her head uncovered(with an external head covering like a veil). Hope this has been helpful, and that you will believe and teach others accurately on this topic from here on.

  5. @ Tyler Bryant – Here is Lori Alexander’s take on it. Have a read, you may find it enlightening.
Your interpretation of scripture is not the only interpretation, nor is there any reason to believe it is the correct one. If Bible scholars throughout history are not in agreement, what makes you so sure you are right? The explanation you have given is muddling and not clear at all.

  6. Where is the article with Alexander’s take on it? Not linked in your reply. And my “interpretation” is not an interpretation at all, as it is scriptural fact, it is what the Bible itself literally says. Any true “bible scholar” is saved, and should be able to discern through the Holy Spirit the truths I demonstrated, along with researched the original language. Which is how I know that I am right, as what I say lines up with the Bible in the original language, and matches the context of the scripture in question. Your claim my explanation is “muddling and not clear at all” is a lie. it is very clear, and very easy to understand.

  7. @Ace Don’t bother to reply for Lori’s article, as I think i found it. It is false on many things it says, among them that the husband is the head covering, which assumes that man and woman in 1 Corinthians 11 is husband and wife, when the words translated from the Koine Greek are universal terms that refer to all men and all women, not just husbands and wives, not to mention the fact that husband is the head covering, verses 5 would effectively be saying that “if the woman prays or prophesies without a husband, she shames her husband, for that is one and the as having no husband.” This is false as, with regard to either spouse, the fact that the other dishonors or sins against them doesn’t biblically make as if they aren’t married(1 Corinthians 7:6-, 1 Peter 3:1-6). Not to mention Lori’s article makes it out like the husband has the power to decide whether a woman has to obey God’s commands or not, which is also false(Acts 5:29). In the end, only head covering being an external one like a veil can make total sense and allow for no self-contradiction in scripture.

  8. @Tyler Bryant
I would encourage you to have a read of the links Lori posted regarding this subject.
Your interpretation of scripture is absolutely an interpretation, and I stand by my claim that it is not the only one, nor is it necessarily the correct one. Reading widely on this subject, and much prayer, will bring clarification.

  9. I have read all the Bible has to say the subject of this head covering command, and as far as the command itself goes, no, what I say is not an interpretation, it is the scriptural fact. I read Lori’s only post that would show up when i googled her name and head coverings, much of it is nothing but fallacy, and some even blatantly contradictory to the scripture itself in question. The fact still stands; only an external head covering like a veil can serve as the head covering required when a woman prays or prophesies.

  10. Tyler Bryant,
I plan to write some posts on Christian head covering. Do you have any good resources you have found, that you’d care to share?

  11. Thank you so much Tyler. I’ve got your links pulled up, and I’ll check them out.
Just as a question, how did you become concerned about the lack of Biblical obedience regarding female head coverings?

  12. You’re welcome, though I hope you don’t expect them to be 100% accurate, as at least one point in the first one isn’t, toward the end. And I came to be concerned about the lack of obedience of most women today to the head covering command when I first learned it, and it’s meaning, and realized I knew of no women to truly obey it. I believe all God’s Will should be, and this command has such a humble, wonderful purpose and symbolism. That is why I am concerned about it, as it truly is a shame for it to be so neglected as easy as it is to obey. I don’t think an answer can fully encompass in any way I can think to give it why I came to be so concerned about it. I hope you don’t think me disrespectful.

  13. No, I don’t find you to be disrespecting me. In fact I see that you have a desire to respect God’s commands, and that is sorely lacking in our world. I also find the symbolism of the a woman’s Christian head covering to be wonderful. And most women who choose not to wear the symbol correspondingly don’t have the wonderful part that is being symbolized by it anyhow.

  14. Thank you for your kind compliments. Now that I think about, I guess my concern over this command not being obeyed by women couldn’t be more fully encompassed than to say I believe that all commands of God are worthy of obedience.

  15. Pardon the late response here, just getting acquainted it seems with the new site.

What perplexes me most about this topic is not when salty men I know in the church come to the defense of women who do not cover themselves. It’s not when men AND women ignore the history of covering, that only remaining uncovered is a recent occurrence. No, none of these things.
What perplexes me most is that women LOVE to accessorize and be pretty. Submitted here without supporting evidence as it is only the most obvious thing in the world.

Why would a woman NOT jump at the chance to display a dainty, thin, delicate cloth with lace edges? And she could choose floral patterns, or solid colors, different designs, sizes, textures. Hell, just as a fashion statement alone women would jump at the opportunity.
It must be because her Heart of Jezebel is strong. ‘I’ll accessorize in anything other than the area where I am commanded.’ There’s no other reason.

On the topic of timing of prayer. Men in hardhats working construction sites offering up a prayer would not be ignored by God. Prudence in preserving life while executing worship is fine, as we see in Neh 4. It’s the heart that God wants. If I had the opportunity, as a man, to remove my covering but neglected to bc lazy or looks or w/e, I have dishonored God. If a woman otherwise has the opportunity to cover but elects NOT to do so bc lazy or looks or w/e, she has dishonored her lord, and thus, her Lord.

  16. Yeah, the legally required hard hat is a tricky question. I try to pray frequently throughout the day, working towards praying without ceasing. And quite often during my workday I am required to wear a protective cap. I’m sure I have probably inadvertently forgotten and prayed with my head covered.

  17. Necro’ing this thread.

I lie awake last night processing the events of the day. One of the things that occurred was the Sunday service deacon announcement at my local rather conservative Baptist church that ‘for the safety and comfort of everyone’ to wear a mask. I am the sole congregant who does not cover my face. It is a small place. The announcement was applicable to me alone.

In a separate conversation the day prior, I discussed head coverings with one of the elders, who agreed that 1 Co is clear indeed women are to cover their head, and he even went as far as joking that ‘some people then ask what the size should be’ for the covering. I saw him and his wife- uncovered- during the service.

Contrast is one of the most powerful learning techniques. Consider the following.

Churches have no issue making a public statement affirming Government’s edicts before men, but fail so much as to privately assert Biblical edicts before women.
The action is the same: take cloth, put on your head:
    > Men, the government says put in on your face and you need to do it. You will appease no one, impress no one, and we will shame you publicly for non-compliance.
    > Women, the Bible is not clear you should put it over your hair and I will not enforce. You would delight your God, impress me with your submission, but will not even privately approach you on this.

The reality is we have no problem submitting to authority in this life. We have a real problem submitting to God’s authority instead of man’s. Add to this my earlier comment about women and accessorizing: I have seen women with sequins on masks, re-purposed bras (destruction of 45USD clothing to convert into an ineffective mask is incredibly wasteful), and other sorts of accessorizing done to try and ‘pretty up’ an article that can never be made appealing neither in form nor function. But still no coverings in sight: you know, the thing which is Biblically commanded but also is beautiful in its symbology and fashion AND form.
Today’s Pharisees. A den of vipers. The Synogogue of Satan.

I know you are terribly concerned about my fragile emotional state in the aftermath of this triggered micro-aggression. I want you to know I am ok, I will survive, I will persevere. I have been given the spiritual gift of not giving a flying F of the thoughts of others in this life. My knee bows to Christ alone, and I will not participate in this lie in the one place the Truth is supposed to be boldly proclaimed.

  18. IKR,
Great comment. Somewhat in response, I have rewritten my most recent post from my other site and posted it here. It meanders about (like a lot of my writing) covering slutty dress, patriarchal shaming, head covering versus face covering, and church apostasy.
